National provider of legal, regulatory and professional services, Ashfords, has been appointed as the trusted legal adviser to the regeneration plans for Hastings seafront.

The major £500 million plan to regenerate Hastings seafront, which was unveiled on Friday 1 September 2017, will preserve and enhance the unique maritime heritage for generations to come. The ambitious project will see more than half a billion pounds of investment pumped into the town creating jobs, extra parking, 1,300 more homes (including those for harbour and key workers), and a state of the art working marina for up to 600 vessels.

Ashfords, who has nationally renowned expertise in coastal development projects, will be providing legal advice and support throughout the project, including property, funding, planning, marine licensing, harbour orders and environmental.

Ashfords commented: "The regeneration project of Hastings seafront is a significant investment into the local community and Hastings' distinctive maritime heritage. We are proud to be advising on this fantastic project and look forward to seeing the end result".

Hastings Harbour Quarter Ltd. (HHQ), who will be undertaking the development, will be consulting with the public and interested parties over the size, location and access arrangements. The HHQ will also use the proposal as a protective band for the cliff face and the country park above the harbour, and will aim to ensure that fishing industries and angling will have a safe harbour.

John Walsh Director for Hastings Harbour Quarter Ltd. commented: "It has been a real pleasure working with Ashfords and benefitting from their experience in Land Marine, coastal development and Funding expertise”. He added, “this is the beginning of a long association with Ashfords to deliver an exciting transformational regeneration opportunity along the South Coast".
