Exeter Young Business Club (XYBC), sponsored and founded by leading law firm Ashfords LLP, has raised over £2,000 for Force Cancer Charity.

Force Cancer Charity fund local research and buy equipment to improve cancer patients care. The charity also run a Cancer Support and Information Centre at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital.

XYBC is run by an Ashfords' committee of junior lawyers who organise networking events for local professionals.

XYBC fundraised for Force through various activities, which have included raffles and competitions, at each of the networking events held over the last two years.

Oly Watts, Fundraising Development Officer for FORCE Cancer Charity, said: “We cannot thank XYBC enough for their generosity. None of what we do would be possible without this kind of support, which means we can help even more local people affected by cancer.”

Laura Wonnacott, XYBC Committee Member at Ashfords LLP commented: "We are delighted to be able to present Force with a cheque for over £2,000. It is an incredibly worthy cause which does invaluable work in the local community. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the local businesses who have donated prizes to our raffles over the years, and of course our network of young professionals who have attended our events and donated."

Since its launch in 2002, XYBC has raised money for a number of local charities and the committee has nominated Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) as the charity for this year.
