National law firm Ashfords LLP has had another taste of working with The Flavourworks after advising on the refinancing of the Somerset-based company’s bespoke flavourings and ingredients business.
Formerly Markus Products, the company rebranded as The Flavourworks Group Limited earlier this year in a move that it hopes will bring its ideas to a wider audience. New Managing Director Chris Ormrod, formerly of The Ministry of Cake, Ginsters and Virgin, also plans to expand the product range. It currently makes flavoured butters, sauces, marinades, glazes, crumb toppings and rubs for pre-prepared gourmet meals – supplying more than 100 customers, including all the UK’s major supermarkets.
Ashfords advised on the refinancing and associated banking, corporate and employment arrangements.
Ashford’s Corporate team Commented: “We have been working with the business for quite some time and it’s been very exciting to see the changes that have been made with the new management and rebrand. To inject some fun into the business Chris has given his team new job titles such as Chief Flavourista, Professor of Flavourology, Head Plate Spinner and Chief Bean Counter. The development kitchen has become the Flavour Academy, with a state of the art customer demo area.
Chris said: “I’ve hugely enjoyed working with the Ashford’s team on the project. Whilst we’ve concentrated on running the business they kept the legal work on track and within budget. It’s been like having my very own protective oven gloves, and I’d recommend them without any hesitation.”
