Ready, Set, Swim - it's almost time for the Burgh Island Challenge 2017

03.07.17

The Ashfords Burgh Island Swim will be taking place on Thursday 20 July 2017 for the third consecutive year.

Held at the scenic Burgh Island at Bigbury-on-Sea, the event will see participants swim around the island to raise money for two charities, Surf Living Saving GB and Ashfords' charity of the year, Alzheimer's Society.

This challenge is open to all who would like to experience the thrill of swimming the distance around the iconic beauty spot that is Burgh Island.

The event is organised by national provider of legal and professional services, Ashfords, and the swimmers will be carefully watched by Bantham Surf Life Saving Club, who are overseeing the water safety for the swim.

St Austell Brewery will again be kindly providing liquid refreshments to the Burgh Island Swimmers with their Cornish lager brand 'Korev' - a firm favourite with surfers across the South West.

Participants can also look forward to a delicious pasty after the swim compliments of local suppliers Chunk of Devon, who said: "The hunks at Chunk are looking forward to being part of the Burgh Island Swim challenge again this year, helping to support Surf Life Saving GB and Alzheimer's Society. The swimmers really will deserve those pasties after the mile around the island."

Partner at Ashfords, commented: "The Burgh Island Swim challenge is now in its third year and we are delighted that we have a large number of repeat swimmers alongside our new swimmers, increasing numbers yearly. This is a very exciting event which brings people together to help raise money for two fantastic causes."
