We are pleased to announce that Stewart James has joined our Bristol office as a Partner in the Company Commercial Team. Stewart was previously a Partner at DLA Piper before working as a consultant to the Ministry of Justice.
Stewart specialises in advising public sector bodies on regulated procurement, outsourcing and Information and Communications Technology ("ICT"). His move to Ashfords comes at a time when our firm is being instructed on an increasing number of public sector technology projects and Stewart's expertise will perfectly complement and enhance our existing offering.
Stewart's recent work includes supporting the Government's largest service disaggregation programme whilst at the Ministry of Justice, procuring the integrated service delivery framework for a central department of the Australian Government, and advising the Home Office and North East Region of Police Forces on the transfer of forensic services for seven police forces.
Mark Lomas, Chairman of Ashfords commented:
"We are delighted to have Stewart join the firm. We have a strong reputation of working with local and central Government departments as well as other large organisations and Stewart's experience will further strengthen our status as a trusted adviser on substantial commercial technology contracts."
Stewart James commented on his appointment:
"I am excited to have joined Ashfords and the opportunities the appointment will bring. The legal market is changing, particularly in the legal fields in which I work; public procurement, outsourcing and ICT. Better use of technology is allowing the old order dominated by large firms to be replaced by more flexible, client-focused law firms like Ashfords that concentrate on delivering innovative solutions within constrained budgets."
