Ashfords LLP employee to run the Torbay Half Marathon in support of her parents and Parkinson"s UK

01.07.16

Su has a very personal connection to the charity, as both of her parents have Parkinson's. After nominating Parkinson's UK for Charity of the Year three years running, Su is stepping up to the plate, taking on her first half marathon and aiming to raise £1,000, with almost £900 raised so far.

Su said: "Parkinson's UK holds a special place in my heart. Both of my parents suffer from the condition and it has turned our lives upside down over the past decade.

"Having finally succeeded in getting Parkinson's UK voted as our Charity of the Year, I feel I have to personally help raise as much money as possible. I have debated about what to do, and realised that if I was to ask friends and colleagues to part with their hard earned cash, it had to be something that would really hurt - hence the half marathon!"

Su's colleagues at Ashfords have thrown themselves into fundraising throughout 2016, from bake sales and sweepstakes to Tough Mudders and Black Tie Balls, aiming to raise £75,000 for the Parkinson's UK confidential helpline. The helpline provides a lifeline to people living with Parkinson's and those who support them.
