At last, a crime drama for lawyers to enjoy!? The BBC's The Escape Artist? starring David Tennant? was the best legal drama I've seen for years. Apart from a few procedural errors in the first episode, which in fairness only lawyers would notice, it was refreshing to see reference to Turnbull warnings and submissions of no case to answer that correctly follow R v Galbraith.?
I can't comment on the Scottish angle, but by the time we'd got to that bit I would have forgiven this drama anything. Great ending too. Well done the BBC! All we need now are realistic interviews under caution that follow the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (Morse, Lewis and Frost take note!) and there'll be happy lawyers everywhere.
