Meet the Apprentice - Beth Lake

Beth Lake - Paralegal Apprentice in our Restructuring & Insolvency Team

Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?
At 18, the concept of having £27k+ of university debt hanging over me for the considerable future was extremely unappealing. The fact that I can further my education, learn on the job and get paid at the same time is allowing me to pursue a career without having to worry about paying off any debts.

What do you enjoy most about the apprenticeship at Ashfords?
I enjoy the network of support in place for the apprenticeship scheme. If I have a question or something I am worried about, there is always someone willing to listen and help me form a solution to the problem.

What advice would you give to someone looking for / applying for an apprenticeship?
Do your research and make sure you have an idea of what type of apprenticeship you are looking for. There are so many different apprenticeships and it's important to find the right one for you. Ask lots of questions to make sure you know exactly what the job you're applying for entails. Also, make sure you research the company before you have an interview as it will only reflect badly if you don't know what you're talking about!
