Apprenticeship Opportunities 

Ashfords is a national Law Firm that is recognised as a leading provider of legal and related professional services. We deliver commercially focused advice to our clients across a range of industries and sectors. Our aim is straightforward – to help our clients get the results that they want.

We are looking for people who are highly motivated to learn and have a positive, can-do approach. You will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, be highly organised and have good attention to detail.

The apprenticeships last between 18 - 24 months and are spread across our Tiverton, Bristol and Exeter offices.

Legal apprenticeships

Legal apprenticeships at Ashfords provide a great opportunity for young people to prosper and develop in a legal environment, without incurring the cost of going to university. You will have plenty of support throughout your apprenticeship from your Ashfords mentor and supervisor as well as CILEx Law School.

Legal Administrator (Level 2)

The Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Legal Administration is a great opportunity to get into the legal environment and start learning about the world of work.

The apprenticeship is 18 months long.  At the end of the 18 month apprenticeship, there is the possibility to apply for a variety of different roles including legal secretary or paralegal. 

Requirements:

  • GCSE grades A to C or equivalent are essential.

Paralegal Trailblazer (Level 3)

Our Paralegal Trailblazer gives you the opportunity to start a career in law without needing to go to university. At the end of the two years, you could remain as a paralegal or continue on through to chartered legal executive studies. 

What are we looking for?

By completing the level 3 Paralegal Trailblazer Apprenticeship you will develop a wide range of legal (and non-legal) skills and gain invaluable experience of working in a top class national law firm. 

The apprenticeship is 24 months long. At the end of the two years, you could remain as a paralegal or continue on through to chartered legal executive studies. 

Requirements:  

  • GCSE grades A to C or equivalent are essential.
  • A Levels: grades A to C (gained or expected) are essential.

Non-Legal apprenticeships

Business Administrator (Level 2)

The Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Business Administration is a great opportunity to gain experience of working in a professional environment and start learning about the world of work. 

The apprenticeship is 18 months long.  At the end of the 18 month apprenticeship, there is the possibility to apply for a variety of different roles.

Infrastructure Technician (Level 3) - (IT Apprenticeship)

The level 3 Trailblazer Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship is a great opportunity for someone that has an interest and passion for computing. The course modules cover a range of topics including operating and cloud services, coding and logic and business processes.

You will be working in our busy IT department helping to resolve issues, ensuring smooth running of the business systems and you will be encouraged to bring new innovative ideas to the table!

The apprenticeship is 12 - 15 months long. At the end of the apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent position.

Requirements:  

  • GCSE grades A to C or equivalent.
  • An interest in  IT and enthusiasm towards working in the IT sector.

This apprenticeship requires a minimum of 7 weeks (funded) daily travel to Bristol for classroom based learning.

We also expect a good standard of education and would be looking for you to have 8 GCSEs at grade A*- C (including Maths and English); for the Paralegal apprenticeship you must also have (or be expecting) 3 A Levels at grade C or above.
