As a result of the Brexit decision, all EU nationals and their non-British family members who are living in the UK before 31 December 2020 need to apply to register their right to remain in the UK under the EU Settlement Scheme.
Individuals who already have UK permanent residence documents, EEA family permits or residence cards are still required to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme, or apply for British citizenship.
The deadline for applying under the EU Settlement Scheme is 30 June 2021.
Depending on how long individuals have lived in the UK, if they meet the eligibility criteria, they will be granted either “settled” or “pre-settled” status.
Settled status will be granted if the individual can prove that they have lived lawfully in the UK for at least 5 continuous years. If the individual has not lived in the UK for 5 years, they will be granted pre-settled status, which can then be converted to settled status when they have accumulated 5 years’ residence in the UK.
The EU Settlement Scheme is open now and applications can be made online or by post.
The supporting documents and information required for each application will depend on individual circumstances.
We assist individuals, as well as business that wish to support their employees and/or service users, who need to make applications to register their right to remain in the UK under the EU Settlement Scheme.
