Trainee Challenge - 2016
Friday, 20th January 2017
In September 2016, the Trainees were challenged by the Charity Committee to raise money for Parkinson's UK. Since September we have conducted 16 events and have so far raised £3,658.24 for Parkinson's UK.
Drinks Trolleys and Pumpkin Carving
The Trainees in the London Office decided to offer a drinks trolley service in the London office on a Friday afternoon. The drinks trolley was so popular (likely due to the fact that we rivalled even Wetherspoon prices) that it was repeated on a number of occasions. The Trainees also decided to have a pumpkin carving competition and the two events raised £203.06 towards our total.
Use Your Head and Dress Down Day
The Trainees in the Exeter Office organised a 'Use Your Head Day' to highlight that Parkinsons is a neurological condition. The event saw staff members to digging out their most outrageous headpiece to raise vital funds for Parkinson’s UK. The winners were: The Mad Hatter, The Daffodil and The Steam-Punk Bowler! The Taunton Office also took part in a Dress Down Day. The events raised £245.60.
The Trainees in the Bristol Office ran a breakfast delivery service the morning after the Comedy Night and Christmas Party. The breakfast was very gratefully received and the events raised £115.25.
Beyond a Reasonable Doughnut Recipe Book
Following the success of the Great Ashfords Bake Off, the Trainees created a recipe book with recipes from the Bake Off as well as contributions from Parkinson's UK. The book has only gone on sale this week but sales are doing incredibly well.
Stop Silent Suffering with our Silent Auction
The Trainees ran a Silent Auction which had 33 different auction items including: a massage voucher, air balloon vouchers, Exeter Chiefs tickets, a Riverford vegetable boxes, Sipsmith Gin and a Department Afternoon Tea. The Trainees managed to source all of the items free of charge. The event raised an incredible £1,262.00.
A group of Trainees have decided to complete Le Tour D'Ashfords as they cycle over 80 miles and pass by Ashfords Exeter, Tiverton, Taunton and Bristol Offices. The event will be taking place in the Spring but the Trainees have raised an amazing amount of sponsorship totalling £548.75.
The Trainees ran a Festive Event which included the sale of personalised baubles and real desktop Christmas trees! The Trainees also reformed the Ashfords Choir who went and sang Carols at the Exeter Christmas Market. The final part of the Trainees' Festive Event was a Christmas Jumper Day. The Festive Event was a huge success and raised £825.83.
A group of foolhardy Trainees braved the freezing waters of Wembury beach for a sponsored dip in an effort to raise money for Parkinson’s UK. With the only permitted attire being swimming costumes and Parkinson's UK t-shirts, there wasn't a wetsuit in sight. The Trainees braved the waters and raised £268.75 in sponsorship.
