The Business and Property Courts of England & Wales

A new umbrella name for a number of specialist jurisdictions of the High Court was announced in March 2017. Launch events have been taking place recently across the country for the new 'Business and Property Courts', with the courts due to go live on 02 October 2017.

Details of Housing Infrastructure Fund announced

Communities Secretary, Sajid Javid, has announced the details of the £2.3bn Housing Infrastructure Fund ("HIF"), which is aimed at unlocking housing delivery by either meeting the cost of infrastructure holding up the development of an allocated site or providing a "forward fund" to pay for strategic infrastructure which will help authorities in their plan formation process.

UK government publishes consultation on NIS Directive

While businesses ready themselves for the General Data Protection Regulation (the "GDPR"), operators of essential services also need to ensure compliance with further EU legislation. The EU Network and Information Security (NIS) Directive (the "Directive") aims to establish an EU-wide security framework, including cyber security, which will complement the new data protection requirements detailed in the GDPR.
