Ashfords is offering to prepare 10 Wills on a "first come first served" basis for Parkinson's UK
Monday, 11th April 2016
In lieu of the firm's normal charges, Ashfords is inviting people to make a donation to Parkinson's UK Helpline, a confidential service providing support to anyone affected by Parkinson's.
The Will Scheme for Charity will start on Monday 16 May and expire on Friday 20 May or when the tenth Will has been prepared. The successful applicants will receive a professionally prepared Will and 100 per cent of their donation will go to Parkinson's UK Helpline.
Why write a Will?
Writing a valid Will is the one of the ways you can be sure that your wishes are carried out and your loved ones are provided for after your death. Also, dying without a Will may cause your family the distress of resolving legal problems on top of losing a loved one.
What will my Ashfords Solicitor do as part of this scheme?
- Your Solicitor will advise you on what you need to take into consideration and meet you at the Exeter office to discuss your wishes.
- Your Solicitor will draft your Will for your approval before finalising it.
- Instead of paying your Solicitor’s fee, you will be invited to make a donation to charity. The suggested donation for one Will is £125 and for a couple seeking double Wills, £200. These suggestions are equivalent to half the usual fee.
- If your Will is more complex, you and your Solicitor can agree a separate fee for the extra work outside of the Wills for Parkinson's UK arrangement.
Paul Jackson-Clark, Director of Fundraising at Parkinson’s UK adds: "Ashfords employees are constantly thinking of new and creative ways to raise funds and awareness, such as the Wills for Parkinson's UK scheme. We are so pleased with the support that Ashfords have given us so far in 2016, they are playing a vital role in funding our confidential helpline which provides support and advice to anyone affected by Parkinson’s."
