Victoria deals with all aspects of property related disputes including disrepair, possession, service charge and co-ownership disputes, leasehold enfranchisement, and professional negligence. Victoria carries out a substantial amount of work for Local Authorities ,and Housing Associations.
Victoria also heads the firm's Asset Recovery Department which recovers all forms of commercial and consumer debts (both domestically and abroad) on behalf of private clients, national accountancy firms, Local Authorities, Housing Associations and other public bodies. The team recovers leasehold service charges, council tax arrears, business rates, large contract debts, unpaid invoices for goods and services, late payment penalties and statutory debts including council tax liability orders.
Victoria's property litigation background gives the Department the advantage of having extensive knowledge and understanding of all property related enforcement options available to maximise the chances of recovery for the client.
Recent experience includes:
- advising an International Estate Agents in relation to all its lettings and commissions debt;
- advising a large London Borough Council in relation to dealing with service charge recovery, rent arrears and business rates ;
- advising a Regional Development Agency in relation to the recovery of service charge and commercial rents.
- acting on behalf of private clients in relation to property related professional negligence actions including issues of professional conduct;
- dealing with complex and high value leasehold extensions and enfranchisement disputes;
- obtaining injunctions for anti-social behaviour and harassment, in particular obtaining an injunction against a serial complainer on behalf of a Housing Association;
- advising Housing Associations and Local Authorities in relation to their internal complaint’s handling procedures;
- advising a large London Borough’s in relation to a range of property related disputes; including disrepair , possession, leaseholder disputes and injunctions; and
- advising a private client on a boundary dispute relating to a newly built housing project which was threatened with being demolished as a result of an alleged encroachment.
