Our Renewable Energy Team work on a wide range of renewable energy projects, including solar, energy from waste, biomass and anaerobic digestion. Achieving energy security for the UK is of vital importance and dwindling reserves of natural resources mean renewable energy must be part of the solution.
Despite that fact – and a general trend towards being ‘green’ – there remain challenges for the sector in respect of regulation, the planning process and availability of funding.
Our in-depth understanding of the sector together with the challenges and opportunities it presents means we are well equipped to advise you on the issues and complexities involved in delivering a successful renewables project.
Much of what we do is focused on infrastructure projects and our highly experienced team can deliver a successful project from inception, design, planning, contract property negotiation and financing through to completion, commissioning, ongoing operation and decommissioning. We also regularly advise clients on renewables benefits, energy efficiency and fuel, power and heat supply and off take agreements.
- Working on the design, build, property arrangements, maintenance, operation and off-take arrangements for several anaerobic digestion facilities sponsored by Greener for Life Energy Limited and two funders. The projects are expected to produce 18MW of energy worth £30million. A number of the facilities are exporting biogas to the grid.
- Advising ET Solutions AG negotiating EPC Contracts and associated documents relating to the design, construction and commissioning of a number of solar farms known as Hullavington (8.3 PWp) and Pyde Drove (8.4 MWp) (ground mounted arrays sold to Lightsource), as well as Park Farm (13MWp), Sawmills (6MWp), Marsh Farm, Devon and Somerton Door in Somerset.
- Working with Birmingham Bio Power, Carbonarius and Balfour Beatty Investments on all aspects (including financing) of the renewable energy project (gasification using waste biomass) at Tyseley, Birmingham.
- Working with Viridor Waste Management Limited and assisting Pennon Group’s in-house legal team on the Exeter EfW facility.
