Mark is a Partner in the Construction and Engineering Team.
He has significant experience in advising on and negotiating the contractual documentation used within the construction and engineering sector and providing advice and assistance on dispute avoidance and resolution.
He specialises in all forms of building and engineering contracts, (including NEC3, JCT, IChemE, EPC and FIDIC), consultants' appointment agreements and ancillary contract documentation, and has an excellent reputation within the social housing, renewable energy, waste and development sectors.
Mark also regularly provides dispute resolution assistance within the construction and engineering sector, including assisting clients with adjudications and pre-action negotiations. He also has a wealth of experience in advising on complex PPP / PFI contracts.
Prior to joining Ashfords, Mark spent over a year at an Australian law firm in their construction team's non-contentious division. During his time in Australia, he has advised a number of Australian clients relating to civil construction projects.
Mark has extensive building contract experience and is described in Chambers & Partners Legal Directory as "proactive" and a "can-do person" with clients praising his ability to "digest and comprehend complex contractual issues quickly."
- Advised Cornwall Council in setting up their Capital Works Delivery Framework Agreement which is to be used to procure major construction and engineering projects for the next 4 years.
- Drafted and negotiated EPC Contract and associated documents relating to the design, construction and commissioning of a number of solar farms known as Hullavington (8.3 PWp) and Pyde Drove (8.4 MWp) (ground mounted arrays sold to Lightsource), as well as Park Farm (13MWp), Sawmills (6MWp), Marsh Farm, Devon (90 MWp) and Somerton Door in Somerset.
- Advised a contractor in connection with the provision of additional process plant facilities at a Recycling Facility, further to a contract with the City council.
- Advised on the construction contract and associated documentation relating to the design and construction of a (206 unit) student accommodation project in Newcastle.
