Flora specialises in Civil litigation, particularly personal injury cases acting for businesses, government agencies and insurance companies.
Flora is a Partner and head of Ashfords’ Personal Injury Team. She joined Ashfords in 1993 and was promoted to Partner in 2004. Prior to joining the Firm, Flora worked as editorial assistant for Economist Publications (London) and as a Paralegal at Bowman & McKenzie (Sydney).
Recent experience includes:
- representing a Defendant in relation to a road traffic accident where the Claimant sustained a permanent injury affecting his future employment prospects and the claim was valued in excess of £500,000. Negotiating settlement shortly before the liability hearing for just over £40,000 inclusive of costs;

acting for insurers and succeeding in getting the Claimant's claim against them struck out on a point of law based upon the interpretation of the European (Rights Against Insurers) Regulations 2002;
- acting for a farmer in the defence of an Occupiers Liability Act claim by an independent contractor following a fall through a roof and successfully negotiating a reduction of 1/3 for contributory negligence;
- representing a haulage company defending a claim of £60,000 by a customer's employee under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992; settled at a nuisance value of £3,000;

acting for a local Football Club and advising them in relation to a personal injury claim against the club by a visiting player, including dealing with issues of indemnity insurance and pre-action disclosure; and
- successfully resisting the Defendant’s application to set aside interlocutory judgement, advising the client on “11th hour” settlement offers and ultimately succeeding in beating Claimant’s part 36 offer at trial and obtaining indemnity costs against the Defendant.
Flora is a member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s Personal Injury Accreditation Scheme and is a member of the Devon and Somerset Law Society.
She also speaks German and is a member of Ashfords German Unit.
