Helen is Head of Education at Ashfords. She joined us as a Partner in October 2010 from The Girls' Day School Trust, the largest group of independent schools in the UK, where she was Head of Legal. Helen has extensive experience in advising Heads, Senior Leadership Teams, Trustees and Directors on a broad range of educational issues, including disability discrimination and SEN, exclusions and appeals, educational negligence, safeguarding and child protection, parent contracts, bullying and complaints.
Prior to this, Helen was a Senior Associate at Herbert Smith in the Litigation Department, advising a range of insurance and high net worth individual clients on personal injury, health and safety, and product liability matters. She was admitted as a solicitor in September 2002, and is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales.
Helen read Law and German at Nottingham University, during which time she spent a year reading law at the University of Hannover. A keen linguist, Helen also speaks French to an intermediate level.
