Robert heads up the Trusts & Estates Disputes Team and works out of the firm's Tiverton office. He specialises in complex contentious wills, trust and related property matters. He has significant experience of mediation.
Robert qualified in 1992 after completing his Articles with Penningtons in London. He joined Ashfords in May 1997 and was made a Partner in 2004.
Robert works closely with the firm's non contentious Trusts and Estates team. He is a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS) and he is also a member of the Property Litigation Association. In November 2011 he gained the Society for Trusts and Estates Practitioners ("STEPS") advanced certificate in Trusts Disputes.
Recent work undertaken includes:
- Resisting a claim under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975;
- Advising on challenges to the validity of a Will on the grounds of capacity, due execution and undue influence;
- Representing trustees on applications for the removal of non performing trustees;
- Advising on constructive trust and proprietory estoppel claims made against an estate;

Advising on the terms of trust documents; and
- Assisting trust dispute resolution by mediation.
