David is a Partner in the Company Commercial Team. He is a general company and commercial practitioner with focused specialisation in financial services in the following areas:

David joined Ashfords' in 2008. Prior to joining the firm David was a Partner in the corporate department at Reed Smith in London having headed up the department during the mid-90's, after which he headed up their UK Financial Services Group. Before that he worked at Izard Weston in Wellington, New Zealand.

- Multi jurisdictional industrial group £40m share sale to US trade buyer;
- UK specialty insurance company £6m MBO from leading UK clearing bank (involving debt & equity acquisition finance with whitewash, transitional services and IT platform development, FSA regulatory clearances, various service and delegated contracts);
- £2.5m contract negotiation settlement between film production client and major international academic institution;
- Winding up of Cayman Island hedge fund;
- Advice for UK investment services company on gearing and investment restrictions applicable to UCITS derivatives fund;
- Sale of substantial French owned private medical insurer;
- Establishment of pan-EU property risk waiver programme for multi-jurisdictional equipment lessor in lieu of current regulated insurance programmes;
- Advice on electronic proxies, statutory trusts, ring-fenced fund dissolution and intra-group services arrangements for UK life insurer;
- ISDA interest rate swaps for leading housing association with 4 bank counterparties;
- £1.5m share repurchase from reserves for UK subsidiary of French household name corporate;
- Arranging contracts for regulated establishment and operation of UK collective investment scheme in form of LLP to invest in real estate;
- Regulatory advice on international commodities trading operations of leading commodities dealer;and
- Arranging collateral trust arrangements for regulatory capital requirements within Lloyds insurance market.
