Charles is a Partner in the Marine and Transport Team specialising in all aspects of marine work. His clients include government organisations, a variety of ship owners, major plcs (including international oil and offshore companies), Lloyds underwriters, major banks, harbour authorities, trawler owners, P&I Clubs, ship finance companies, masters and crewman.
Charles qualified as a solicitor in 1987, following fifteen years in the Royal Navy, primarily in the submarine service as a seaman officer. After working at Holman Fenwick & Willan, Norton Rose and Foot Anstey in Plymouth, he joined Ashfords as a partner in 2006.
Charles is a member of the Nautical Institute, a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and a member of the Alpine Club. He has provided numerous seminars to clients and is a regular speaker at industry events.
