Michael is Partner and the head of the Firm's Trusts and Estates Team. His specialisms include dealing with the administration of complex estates, technical will drafting and inheritance planning. In tax planning, Michael has worked for a number of high net worth clients and their families and has often worked in conjunction with accountants and other professional advisors. This experience includes inheritance tax planning arrangements involving trusts.
Michael joined Ashfords in September 2007, having previously been a partner with two 'top 100' law firms, Freeth Cartwright LLP and Shoosmiths.
He studied law at Nottingham University and qualified in 1994. Since then he has specialised entirely in Private Client work and having now worked for three large law firms has broad experience in this area of 'legal' practice.
Michael acts as a Professional Deputy for people who are unable to manage their own assets under the Office of the Public Guardian and he has wide-ranging experience in dealing with elderly clients and those with impaired capacity.
Michael's underlying approach is business like whilst understanding and approachable. He appreciates the need to supply a quality legal service in an agreed timetable.
Michael is also a member of both the national association 'Solicitors for the Elderly' (SFE) and the Camelot Professional Advisors Panel (advising lottery winners).
