Ashfords' Flag Goes to the North Pole

Introduction

Exeter law firm Ashfords and builders Rok teamed up recently to help a group of students from Exmouth Community College have the adventure of a life time with an expedition to the North Pole as the photographs show.

The two prominent local businesses first came together when Rok built Ashfords prestigious new offices on the eastern approach to the city and both firms came up with a plan to support the enterprise of eight Exmouth students taking part in Polar Quest 2006.

Eager to help the college raise the necessary £25,000 for the project, which also involved live communications with Polar Quest 2006, Ashfords and Rok hit on the idea of a Charity Quiz Night which raised £1,200 and was well supported by 155 local business people in the construction industry.

Polar Quest 2006 was a joint Royal Marine and Royal Navy Expedition to both the North and South Poles. Exmouth Community College students will met the expedition at the North Pole and stayed at a school in Resolute Bay. Whilst there, they took part in traditional Inuit singing and igloo construction.
