Now an established and popular annual social event, the Exeter Summer Property Ball has raised some £25,000 for good local causes over the last four years, including the Clyst Heath MS centre, St. Loye's College and the West of England School.
And this year's June 30 event has proven so popular with regular supporters that all 420 of the £55.00 a head tickets have been snapped up already, with a waiting list for any cancellations.
Attended by a mixture of professional people in the local Exeter property world and its associated professional practices, the sell-out ball is very much a showcase and 'Who's Who' of the local property world.
Whilst the purpose of the ball is to raise money, it aims to do so in a fun and entertaining way.
The forty two tables of 10 guests will have a fun-filled evening parting with their money and enjoying entertainment ranging from table magicians and cabaret during the meal to dodgems and a live band. Other fun attractions include a Vodka luge, surfboard and comic impersonators.
The ball is organised by a five strong team from the Exeter property world comprising Tim Heal from Ashfords Solicitors, Damian Cook from Stratton Creber Commercial, Scott Rossiter from Alder King, Steve James from RBS Natwest and local accountant David Kirk.
An auction of unusual pledges will also be held and celebrity chef Michael Caines will once again auction his services to cook a meal for 10 at the winner's home. The last time Michael Caines was "sold" at the 2004 ball, he was knocked down for an astonishing £4,000!
Commenting about the event on behalf of the organising team, Tim Heal, a partner with Ashfords solicitors said: "The Exeter Summer Property Ball is all about raising funds for good local causes in a fun way.
"It's a great event and attended by almost everyone in the city's property world as evidenced by this year's early sell out.
"We hope to raise around£10,000 for the West of England School who are hosting this year's ball in their grounds, along with other local charities."
