Taunton business professionals give boost to air ambulance coffers
Friday 25th March 2011
Generous young professionals in Taunton have given a cash boost to Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.
Members of TYBC, Taunton Young Business Club, presented the charity with a cheque for £200 collected from past events and various fundraising activities.
Claire Webb, a trainee solicitor at Ashfords LLP, one of the organisers of TYBC said: "We are extremely glad to be able to contribute to such an essential cause - a cause that relies solely on the generosity of the public. The main aim of the TYBC is to foster relationships between young business professionals, but we also feel it is essential to give something to the local community."
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance Fundraising and Events Development Manager Joanna Sandow said “We are delighted with the donation from the Taunton Young Business Club”.
“One of our biggest challenges is to ensure that we continue to raise the £1.4million a year which we need to keep our life-saving helicopter flying”.
“As we do not receive any direct Government or National Lottery funding, we have to raise all our money through public donations so we simply could not operate without the support of groups like TYBC”
Membership to TYBC, run by Ashfords Solicitors which has an office on Blackbrook Park Avenue, is currently free and is open to all young professionals in the area.
