Ashfords LLP secures new council appointment

Leading law firm Ashfords LLP has been appointed to advise Swindon Borough Council on legal matters relating to eleven future academies.
Helen Tucker, Head of Education at Ashfords, is assisting the council with the commercial transfer agreements of the community, foundation and voluntary aided schools, which are due to convert in the coming months. She will advise on issues arising from the transfer of staff, assets and contracts and on the terms of the warranties and indemnities.
The schools include St Joseph's Catholic College, Kingsdown School, Commonweal School and Lethbridge Community Primary School.

There are a number of issues that need to be considered when schools decide to convert to academy status, and our experience includes advising both schools and local authorities in relation to this process. "
