South West law firm wins national award for niche practice

Top South West law firm Ashfords LLP has won a prestigious award from a national legal magazine for its marine practice.
The firm was named Shipping & Maritime Law Firm of the Year in Lawyer Monthly's Legal Awards 2011 after being nominated for the award and voted for via the legal magazine's website.
The Legal Awards aim to recognise "firms and individuals who have engaged and responded most successfully to the demands being placed on them in the new post-recession business environment and the recent global economic turmoil."
Charles Hattersley, a Partner in the Marine and Transport department at Ashfords LLP, said: "We are very pleased that the firm has been recognised in a national publication. It was a particularly pleasant surprise as we knew nothing about the win, or even the nomination, until the publication got in touch with us, so it seems we were put forward for the award by a third party.
"I think this win reflects our expertise in all aspects of marine related legal advice to a national and international client base in both the commercial shipping and transport industry and the marine leisure sector."
