New web-based health and safety guidance for employers
Thursday 18th August 2011
New online guidance has been published by the Health and Safety Executive to help employers comply with health and safety laws.
The HSE has worked together with business organisations to create a website in plain and simple English, which explains how to manage health and safety by taking you through a basic series of tasks. The site provides various templates for documents such as a health and safety policy and a risk assessment form, as well as links to other helpful web pages when more detailed guidance and industry-specific advice is needed.
Nigel Hutchings, of the South West Chambers of Commerce, praised the site, saying: "Anything that simplifies the legislative process for businesses is to be welcomed… Often simple planning and precautions can prevent accidents which have major legal and financial consequences for employers, in addition to the emotional toll of illnesses or serious injuries."
The online guide can be found at www.hse.gov.uk/simple-health-safety
