Concerts in aid of local charities in Devon and Somerset
Friday 25th March 2011
Ashfords Solicitors are joining forces with string sextet The Honeymead Ensemble to raise money for charities in Devon and Somerset this spring.
The regional firm is supporting three concerts by the sextet, which includes world-renowned musicians led by violinist Tamsin Waley-Cohen, whose family home is on Exmoor.
The concerts, which will comprise two romantic works - The Brahms G major sextet and Schoenberg's Verklarte Nacht - are being held at the end of a week-long annual festival of chamber music, which is being supported by the Honeymead Arts Trust.
The first concert, in aid of Go Commando, will be held at St Mary's Church in Taunton on Thursday, 14th April. On Friday, 15th April, Friday 15th April, the Ensemble will perform at the Assembly Rooms, South Molton, in aid of Calvert Trust, an adventure activity centre for people with disabilities, and D &S Hunt Club. Finally, on Saturday, 16th April, they will perform at Cathedral Quire, Exeter, in aid of the Cathedral's Third Millennium Fund.
Charles Pallot, a Partner at Ashfords Solicitors, said: "We are delighted to be able to support these concerts, which raise money for vital causes, for the second year running. Previous concerts by the Honeymead Ensemble have proved extremely popular and we hope these will be just as successful."
Tamsin, who formed the Honeymead Ensemble in 2007, performs as a soloist with orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of St John's, London Concert Orchestra and London Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra of the Swan.
Also performing will be Emma Parker, who joins Tamsin on violin, along with Alfredo Zamarra and Eniko Magyar on the viola and Gemma Rosefield and Philip Higman on the cello.
The Honeymead Ensemble has participated in festivals all over the UK and performs concerts annually across Somerset and Devon for the benefit of local charities.
