Arthur Fisher (c1860 - 1916)Arthur Fisher

Like others of the time, Arthur Fisher was a man who was hugely involved in activities of his town, in addition to his professional work as a solicitor.  He was President of the Devon and Exeter Law Association, Honorary Secretary of the Tiverton Infirmary, Captain of the Tiverton Volunteers, Coroner for Tiverton and even took his turn at the water pumps during a serious fire at Ford's Brewery in 1891.  He was also very active in fund-raising and organising the development of his alma mater, Blundells School.  He advocated a bazaar towards a fund for building a school chapel, he helped to found the School Cadet Corps, he was Governor of the school, he compiled an edition of the Blundells School Register (1770-1882) in 1904 as part of the 300th anniversary of its foundation and also presented it with its flag in 1908.

On his death, The Blundellian produced a fulsome obituary, highlighting his many enthusiasms and his energetic support.
