The Honeymead Ensemble 2012 Programme will be a piano trio, led by violist and artistic director Tasmin Waley-Cohen, with returning celluist Gemma Rosefield, and pianist Tom Poster.
They will perform two of the great Piano trios - Robert Schumann's in F Major, which is a romantic and intimate work, full of his love for Clara; and Beethoven's last trio, the 'Archduke', considered by many to be the greatest trio ever written, striking both for its symphonic scope and the music's power and breadth of expression.
Robert Schumann's in F Major, began in 1847. Schumann's wife, Clara, was a main influence in his trios and his works are tributes to Clara's own lyrical ideas and technical achievements.  They exhibit a youthful verve along with Schumann's vivid sense of tonal colors.
Beethoven's, the 'Archduke', was published in 1811 and was dedicated to the Archduke Rudolph of Austria, an amateur pianist who was also a friend and composition student of Beethoven.  Beethoven began composing the piece in 1810 and completed it in March 1811.  The performance of the 'Archduke' in 1814 was Beethoven's last performance in the role of a pianist.

The performers are all successful and rising young professionals, and we are confident that this year's music will be as exciting and moving as any we have yet heard from the Ensemble.  They are:-

Tamsin Waley-Cohen  (Founder and Artistic Director)
Violin

Gemma Rosefield (she was a member of the 2010 ensemble)
Cello

Tom Poster

Tom is internationally recognised as a pianist of outstanding artistry and versatility.  He has established himself as a sensitive and passionate interpreter and of an unusually extensive repertoire.  Since his London concerto debut at the age of 13, Tom has appeared in a wide-ranging concerto repertoire with many leading orchestras and conductors.  Tom features regularly on BBC Radio 3 as a soloist and chamber musician, and appeared in both capacities at the BBC Proms 2008 and 2009 and again this year.
