New Procurement Thresholds from 1 January 2016

The European Commission has revised the procurement thresholds that will apply from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2017.

The new threshold levels will apply to all new procurements commencing from 1 January 2016, with thresholds for public contracts, utilities contracts and defence and security contracts.

Due to fluctuations in exchange rates over the past two years, the new thresholds are slightly lower than those currently in place. Contracting Authorities should therefore familiarise themselves with the new lower threshold values and take caution to ensure that all procurements that now fall at or above the new thresholds are compliantly procured in accordance with the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
