The conference was attended by John Toth and I along with delegates from France, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Germany, Poland and Panama (based in London but offering Panamanian services).
The format involved presentations from five of the delegates on Saturday morning (including myself) followed by a more detailed presentation by a tax specialist from Ernst and Young in Munich and case studies. The case studies invariably involved individuals either domiciled or non-domiciled in the UK but with assets in various jurisdictions.
The value of the conference was two-fold:-
Firstly, the actual presentations were very useful given the work we undertake in the department and are aiming to expand via John Toth at the London office.
Secondly, and probably more importantly, the conference was also extremely useful for building links with lawyers from different jurisdictions. Contact details were exchanged and it is my intention to email all of the other delegates from time to time and invite them to call into the new London office if and when they are visiting London in the future.
