• South West homeowners cash in with website

Introduction

South West homeowners are being targeted by a unique website which will help them realise the potential gold mine they are living in.

Supported by leading law firm Ashfords (www.ashfords.co.uk), the site explains in simple terms the benefits of equity release from your home. Equity release works by allowing owners to take out a loan against the value of their home.

The money is paid monthly, or in a lump sum, and returned once the home is sold. This frees up cash to help with living costs or luxuries.

Ashfords partner and equity release expert Peter Barton, who contributed and features on the website, said: "Many homeowners, especially the retired, do not realise they could release cash from their home to help with the cost of living.

"Many people also use the scheme to pay off debts, fund holidays or simply to realise a dream purchase or luxury."

Peter is also chairman of Age Concern Tiverton and a member of Action on Elder Abuse and Solicitors for the Elderly.
