Cost of a Punch - a Club's Liability for a Player's Actions

In the recent Court of Appeal judgment in Andrew Gravil v Richard Carroll and Redruth Rugby Football Club, Redruth Rugby Football Club ("Redruth") was held vicariously liable for the actions of one of its semi-professional players. The decision is likely to have far reaching consequences for both professional and semi-professional sports clubs across the country.

Is Privacy Law Now Public Enemy No 1?

As was widely expected amongst media lawyers, Max Mosley, the 68 year old President of F.I.A., motor racing's governing body, won his Court action against the News of the World for breach of privacy in the High Court today. The action followed the publication of explicit details of a sado-massochistic sex session involving Mr Mosley and five prostitutes in a Chelsea basement in March this year.
